We’re proud to celebrate the successful completion of Phase 2 of JoeAnna’s House in Kelowna, BC — a project that represents far more than additional square footage.
This new 10-room addition is an investment in people. It will provide a welcoming, supportive place for families to stay while their loved ones receive care at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).

A compassionate community project
Operated by the KGH Foundation, JoeAnna’s House offers temporary accommodation and support for families who must travel to Kelowna during a medical crisis. The existing two-storey facility includes 20 family bedrooms along with shared kitchen, dining, and living areas designed to create a sense of comfort and community.
The proposed expansion will add 5 new accommodation units, and includes modifications to the existing parking area and supporting site infrastructure.

CTQ Consultants’ civil engineering role
CTQ Consultants is privileged to provide civil engineering services for the JoeAnna’s House expansion. Our team has a long-standing connection to the facility, having also provided civil engineering services for the original JoeAnna’s House development.
That familiarity with the site, existing infrastructure, survey information, and original design documents provides valuable continuity throughout the expansion process.
Existing site infrastructure
The property is serviced by:
- Water connections from Royal Avenue
- Sanitary sewer connections from Royal Avenue
- Stormwater connection to the onsite drainage infrastructure from the adjacent access lane
Civil engineering scope
CTQ’s scope of work includes:
- Reviewing the existing water, sanitary, and stormwater systems
- Confirming that the proposed addition can be adequately supported by the existing servicing infrastructure
- Preparing site servicing, grading and stormwater management plans
- Coordinating the civil design with the architect, KGH Foundation, the City of Kelowna, and the other project consultants
In addition, our team will complete the required fire flow assessment and Fire Underwriters Survey (FUS) calculations, prepare sealed civil engineering drawings for Development Permit and Building Permit submissions, and provide tender and construction support as the project advances.
Construction support through completion
CTQ will remain actively involved during construction, providing:
- Civil site reviews
- Responses to contractor questions
- Site instructions where required
- Substantial and total performance reviews
- Final civil record drawings
A meaningful project for the Interior of British Columbia
For our team, this project is especially meaningful because of the direct impact it will have on families across the Interior of British Columbia.
When a loved one is hospitalized, having a safe, comfortable place to stay nearby can make an enormous difference. JoeAnna’s House provides that support network, and this expansion means more families will have access to affordable accommodation close to Kelowna General Hospital when they need it most.
We are honoured to continue supporting the KGH Foundation and JoeAnna’s House as they expand their capacity and strengthen the care available to patients and families throughout the region.
