Kelowna’s new North Entry Monument forms a distinctive landmark at one of the city’s primary gateways! CTQ is proud to have been part of the project team for this meaningful monument, which brings together art, culture and a shared vision for the community.

More than an architectural feature, the monument tells a story of connection. It reflects the relationships between people, cultures and landscapes that have shaped Kelowna’s past and continue to influence its future.
A Welcoming Landmark Inspired by Indigenous Culture
The North Entry Monument draws inspiration from traditional Indigenous basket weaving. Its striking interwoven design symbolizes the connections that bring communities together.
This woven form offers a visual expression of relationships, shared histories and the importance of place. It also creates a memorable welcome for residents and visitors entering Kelowna.
The project demonstrates how public art and thoughtful design can work together to create spaces that are both visually engaging and culturally meaningful.
Collaboration at the Heart of the Design
Bringing the North Entry Monument to life was a collaborative effort involving artists, designers and the City of Kelowna.
We’d like to recognize the talented artists Sheldon Louis and Crystal Przybille, whose creative contributions helped shape the monument’s distinctive character and storytelling.
It was a privilege for us at CTQ Consultants to play a part in the design process, contributing to a project that reflects the value of collaboration across creative disciplines.
When different perspectives and areas of expertise come together, the result can be something far more meaningful than any single element of the design.

Creating a Sense of Place Through Landscape Architecture and Design
Public landmarks play an important role in defining how people experience a city.
They help establish a sense of arrival, create recognizable points of interest and express the identity of the surrounding community.
For CTQ Consultants, the North Entry Monument reflects a principle that guides our approach to landscape architecture and community-focused design: great places are about more than how they look. They’re about how they make people feel and the connections they inspire.
By celebrating local identity and cultural storytelling, the monument transforms an everyday arrival point into a meaningful experience.
It’s a reminder that even a brief moment of passing through a place can create a lasting impression.
A Lasting Symbol of Kelowna’s Identity
As Kelowna continues to grow and evolve, projects like the North Entry Monument help strengthen the connection between the city’s built environment, cultural heritage and natural landscape.
We’re delighted to see this landmark become part of Kelowna’s story and we congratulate the City of Kelowna, Sheldon Louis, Crystal Przybille and everyone who helped bring the vision to life.
At CTQ Consultants, we’re grateful for opportunities to contribute to projects that celebrate community, encourage collaboration and make the places we share more meaningful.
Because the best design doesn’t simply define a place. It helps tell its story.
