Andrew Zelke is the CFO at CTQ since 2012 and is responsible for all administrative aspects of the business. His strategic planning, budgeting and cash flow monitoring are essential in ensuring the success of CTQ.
Anne McTaggart
Anne began at CTQ in 2019 as Administrative Assistant, since she has grown into the role of Accounting Clerk Intermediate. Her strong background in business administration and A/P-A/R come from running her own businesses. Anne’s strengths in multi-tasking and as well as her experience as office manager for more than 10 years, makes her a valuable member of the Administration team.

Byron Douglas, CTQ’s CEO, brings over 20 years of international landscape architectural and project management experience to his role overseeing the Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at CTQ. Byron’s attention to detail, consideration of individual site and client needs, enables him to create memorable, interactive, and lasting landscapes.
David James, BCSLA, CSLA
David James is a registered Landscape Architect with over 30 years of experience, specializing in planning, urban design, mixed-use commercial and multi-family residential projects. He’s worked extensively in the BC Interior for 17 years and has been involved on several transformative projects in Kelowna, Vancouver, and Calgary. David’s expertise is in conceptual design, with strong graphic and communication skills. His creative skills are paired with a strong understanding of construction and detailing to create memorable public spaces which are practical, beautiful, and inspirational.
David’s interests are in promoting arts, culture, and local history. He draws inspiration from these endeavors in his daily life, as well as in his professional practice. This passion has led him to look for new and innovative ways to merge them together to create his own unique perspectives and expressions.
Dave Cullen, P.Eng., Partner
Dave Cullen joined CTQ in 2006, he is the transportation and land development engineer. His experience prior to joining CTQ included 4 years with the Ministry of Transportation as part of the Highways Bridge Engineering Department, he also held a position as a Bridge Construction Supervisor. Over the past 20 years, Dave has accomplished significant work experience in transportation system planning, design, construction, and project management.
El Martinez
El Martinez is a dynamic landscape designer with over two years of experience, specializing in transforming urban environments into vibrant, sustainable spaces. As a key member of a multi-disciplinary team, El has explored the concept of “healthy cities,” focusing on the innovative use of underutilized green spaces in Toronto. The work blends both creativity and practicality, aiming to enhance urban well-being and environmental health.
Glen Power, AScT
Glen is the Information Systems Administrator. He originally trained as a mechanical engineering technologist. Upon joining CTQ in 2005, Glen’s position was civil design technologist. His strong technical knowledge then transformed his role to IT, his responsibilities include support for hardware and software, servers, mobile and telephone systems, networking, and infrastructure maintenance. Glen is responsible for the CTQ team’s various levels of communication, supporting our remote or in office employees.
Jesse Padda, EIT
Jesse was inspired by his uncle, who thoroughly enjoyed his career as a professional engineer. Jesse attended both OK College and proceeded to Lakeland University, where he graduated and obtained his degree in Engineering. Jesse joined CTQ in the summer of 2021 as an EIT., his passion for learning enhances him to become a strong well-rounded engineer.
Jo Krebs, BC (Hons), PG Dip
Although Jo began her career working in Architecture, her move from the UK to Kelowna opened the door for Jo to evolve her design talents and love of plants into the field of Landscape Architecture. Her extensive knowledge in local plant and wildlife habitat enhances her landscape designs. CTQ is proud that Jo joined our Landscape Architecture team in 2021 as landscape designer.
Michael De Bonis
In April 2022, Michael joined CTQ. Michael is a civil designer with a strong understanding of various design software programs. He also has strong experience as a service coordinator and is familiar with the aspects of surveying. Michael is keen to apply his skills, gained from college and work, towards his civil design projects.
Mehrnoosh Mohammadi
Mehrnoosh’s passion for landscape architecture led her to transition from architecture to landscape design and research. She holds a bachelor’s in architecture, a Master’s in Landscape Architecture and another Master’s in Environmental Studies. Mehrnoosh brings expertise in sustainable landscape design, detailed design drawings, project coordination, socioenvironmental impact assessment, and architectural design. Throughout her career, she has contributed to projects of various scales, from small-scale residential to large-scale institutional.

Marzena Cyrson, formerly an accountant with 25 years of experience, found her new calling in landscape architecture after attending a “Women in the Trades” event at NAIT. Passionate about designing inviting and practical outdoor spaces, she excels in selecting plants suited to various environments. A Certified Okanagan Master Gardener, Marzena has spent over five years as a landscape architectural technologist in Kelowna, where she combines her expertise and creativity to enhance outdoor living areas.

Natalie Martin is a registered Landscape Architect based in the Kootenay area of BC. She brings nearly a decade of hands-on expertise to the field, marked by a commitment to crafting sustainable, innovative outdoor spaces that harmonize with their surroundings. From concept design to project management, Natalie has a passion for enhancing the natural environment while meeting the functional needs of clients. With a keen eye for detail and a collaborative approach, she thrives in translating vision into reality.
Nicole Veloso
Nicole joined CTQ in April 2023. She graduated as a landscape technologist from NAIT in 2019. Nicole enjoys working on projects where she can graphically present an idea through a colorful plan drawing or a 3D model, which are converted to fly through videos and perspective renderings. Nicole uses a variety of computer software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, InDesign, and Photoshop to highlight the design and envision the potential of a project.

Nelson Purcell is a licensed engineer in Canada & US with over 13 years of experience in civil engineering, project management across 10 provinces and 20+ states. His expertise spans geometric design, stormwater, utilities, heavy civil, commercial, and site servicing. He’s handled all aspects of civil design, including quality control, geotechnical engineering, construction management, and surveying. Nelson is Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, and more.
Philip Mitchell, CPHR
Philip is an experienced Human Resources and Operations Management professional with over 25 years of expertise in recruitment, development and training, organizational design, performance management, and workplace culture.
He has worked in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors and has international experience from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Canada. Philip holds his Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, a diploma in Front line Management, and has completed various industry-specific training and designations.
He resides in West Kelowna with his family and enjoys playing Masters Rugby and spending time outdoors on his small acreage.
Roland Ruesgen, C-Tech
Roland joined CTQ in the Spring of 2008, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in civil design, including topographic survey, retrofit sewer design, roads, subdivision design, and earthworks modeling. Based in the Central Okanagan since 1991, Roland has participated in, and successfully completed a broad range of projects for both private and public sector clients.

Steve began his career with CTQ in 2003, hired as a design technician. Since, Steve has gained significant knowledge of all facets of land development and contract administration. Steve’s role has evolved to Project Manager and through his attention to detail, dedication to producing quality work, he is committed to providing the highest level of service to our clients.

Steve earned his Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from Leeds Metropolitan in 2010. After moving to Calgary, he worked at a landscape architecture firm, designing large residential and commercial projects. He later shifted to the green infrastructure sector, joining a company manufacturing soil cells, addressing issues with urban tree growth and stormwater management. This experience deepened his expertise in permeable pavements and long-term urban tree health. His passion extends beyond design to ensure the durability, longevity, and functionality of projects, considering both aesthetics and long-term maintenance.

Tobi joined CTQ in 2003 as the lead designer and was the first employee of CTQ. For the past 25 years, he has gained experience in design and drafting. Tobi’s knowledge of varying design standards within each of the municipal and provincial districts ensures our clients precise and effective project design, including site grading and servicing utilizing the latest AutoCAD Civil 3D software.

Tom joined CTQ in April 2022. He is dedicated and a client focused team player with experience in various levels of civil design. His past experiences and knowledge have provided him the opportunity to hit the ground running with CTQ, to confidently dive into projects and be a contributing factor to the civil design group.

Tomas joined CTQ in 2021, He attained his BA degree in environmental governance and a master’s in landscape architecture at the University of Guelph, ON. While at University, along with his studies, Tomas was a Teacher’s Assistant for multiple courses from Intermediate Landscape Construction to Recreation-Tourism. His experience in Landscape Construction and his goal to create unique sustainable and diverse shared spaces that prioritize function has also enhanced his position as a Junior Landscape Designer.

Vianna joined CTQ in Fall of 2023 as a civil EIT. She graduated from UBCO in 2020 with an engineering degree. She has just over 2 years of experience working in the industry as a project coordinator and surveyor, and is gaining experience in civil design. Vianna is passionate about sustainable engineering and constantly learning about advancements in engineering technology.
